Where can I purchase a food truck?

Trucks can be purchased pre-built or a truck can be purchased by itself and build it out or have it built out. Trucks can be found, prebuilt or plain, on Craigslist, Ebay and other auction sites
Manufacturers of Food Trucks (companies that take a shell of a Step Van and add the kitchen equipment) can be found around the country.

How much does it cost to get started to own a food truck?

Truck can cost between $20,000 to upwards of $80,000 depending on how it is equipped and what you intend to prepare, who you intend to sell to, etc.

How do I contact individual food trucks?

Go to the “TRUCKS” page. Click on any truck. You will then be taken to a bio of the truck and information on how to contact them including website, Facebook, twitter and other social media information.

How do I become a member of the STLFTA?

The first step is to download the Membership Application from here. Fill it out and send it to or mail it to the address on the application. Please be either in the process of becoming a food truck or roaming the streets as a food truck. Currently we do not accept trailers or street carts in the association.

How do I book a STLFTA truck?

Contact the truck directly using the orange “Contact Truck” button on the truck’s individual page. Or you can click the BOOK Truck link at the top of the page and fill out some information on the type of event and type of food you would like and we will provide recommendations and send your information to the appropriate trucks.

How many trucks should I book for my event?

This really does depend on the type of event your are having. If the event is a Food Truck only event then we suggest having at least one truck for every 300 people. If the event is a non food truck event and you just want the trucks to be there to provide food for your guests or customers then we would suggest at least one truck for every 600-700 people. Please contact us with your specific event and we will be happy to help you figure out how to best organize.

Is there a minimum charge to hire a truck for a catering?

Each truck has a different minimum for certain events. This can run anywhere from $300-$900 depending on the event, location and the type of food you want. Our suggestion is to go thru our Book Truck system and we will send out your event information to trucks that match your requirements.

How far in advance do I need to book a truck for my event?

We would suggest contacting the trucks at least two months prior to your event. Trucks during the busy season (May- August) are typically booking more than two months out. I would not let that keep you from reaching out to any of the trucks to see if they are available.
